Is Spencer ready to Go?

So it appears as though, one way or the other, Anthony Specner will get his shot to start at outside linbacker. The days of Greg Ellis, as classy an act as he is, appear to be over. I agree that it is time to get younger and time to move on with your most expolosive firepower.

Spencer, out of Purdue, has show flashes of intensity. Like several other younger Cowboys players, the problem has been health. Spencer has been banged up a bunch and has a hard time staying on the field.

For a few plays he show explosive speed and great vision. If he can consistently go and remain healthy, he and Ware could be a fearsome twosome playing opposite each other. The possibility is exciting that we could have two speedy and relentless LB's coming at the opposing QB. Who do they double? Who do they chip? Load up on this side, and pay the price on the other.

The beauty of pressure is that it should have a trickle back effect, greatly helping our young speedy defensive backfield. I anticipate our CB's getting more opportunities for picks with us having two intense passrushers.

Here is hoping that going younger does the trick. It's either that, or Jerry Jones has written off this year and decided to line himself up for a huge spending spree in an uncapped year next year. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Chime in and enjoy. Thanks fellow fans, and let's go Cowboys.

A Sincere Thank You

Thanks to those of you who have taken time to read, vote and comment. I hope that we can look back on this as the start of something cool that we as Fans can use to read, get updates, share news and information.

I'd like to have a decent sized group that will get together on here and keep up with our Boys. Particularly, I'd like us to be able to break down games during the season.

Ellis on the Move?

It seems to be an annual occurance. We approach the start of training camp and the discussion goes to Ellis' role, his salary, his future.

I love the guy for what he has been through with the Cowboys. I love that he hung in there and came back from the achilles surgery and had a great season. It hurts to say it but I do believe it might be time to make a move.

It looks like a trade frees up $5 in cap space this year. Cutting him out right clears $4.15 million. So I believe it is time to move on and put Spencer in to take a shot. Perhaps we could use the free space to finish Ware's long term deal and get him locked down. Perhaps a portiion could be used on a receiver.

Thank you to Stacy from OKC for putting up some information on Manuel Johnson. Sounds like he could be a big time palyer for the Boys for a long time to come. What do you all think about the Ellis situation? Kick in some ideas....don't be shy. I want this to be a site for regular, old school, die-hard Cowboys fans to put up their ideas without fear of getting any flack.

Man, I tell you I have had a lot of patience with this guy and hoped he would be special. After reading on www.dallascowboys.com that he was due to have surgery on his knee after an injury in the OTA, I officially have given up. It's time to cut him loose as "injury prone" and open space for someone else.

Perhaps it will be someone from 4th and Long, the new Michael Irvin reality show. Perhaps it will be Matt Jones or one of the other receivers out there. Any ideas or strong feelings? Come on fans, write back and let's chat up what to do to make this a season to remember.

What to do with a Cool Million

OK Cowboys fans.....where are you all? Come on------post some comments and lets open this thing up. What do with do with the extra $950K in salary cap money free'd up by the league? We use it all on Ware? Or, are we close on Ware and do we need to try to add a little depth at Receiver?

What are your thoughts on Matt Jones? Too risky considering our recent history or worth a shot?
